We have a clients cf7 notification email passing through lists of products as part of a quote enquiry system. When the enquiry is sent, it captures the contents of the users cart and passes the product list through along with the enquiry notification. We accidentally updated this clients CF7 form to 5.4 yesterday and I arrived to an email this morning saying the workflow was broken and the form is not listing the products from the cart. I logged into the admin and noticed 5.4 running, so I rolled back to the previous version, and what do you know…. all is working fine again. It seems that CF7 5.4 is broken on so many levels, it might be easier to start back at the previous version and forget 5.4 all together. I had hoped to have this acknowledged by the developer by now. Over a month of responses suggesting changing themes and deactivating plugins is not good at all, and clearly the issue is too wide-spread and varied to be the fault of every other plugin developer on the planet right? Fingers crossed I wake up tomorrow and see the changelog for the new version addressing the issues everyone has flagged for over a month now. It’s frustrating to not be able to upgrade with stability. I run ManageWP and Wordfence Central monitoring and am constantly dealing with a large number of plugin updates required and would like to clear that up pronto. This spinner issue with CF7 has been prevalent since launch of the latest version over a month ago. I’m yet to see an update to the plugin to resolve it, and continuously read responses to “advise of other plugins in the site”. It is something I’ve flagged previously myself. Using the previous version of CF7, absolutely no issues at all. After upgrading to version 5.4, I get the spinner issue and form doesn’t submit. If I clear cache it works for a little while and then fails again. Happens on over 80 sites of varying plugins and setups… all custom themes and some purchased themes. If I revert back to previous version of CF7 without making a single other change… all sites work fine again. I wonder if this setting is required or if it will effect the quality of the spam protection? We’ll have to monitor this. I think it would be great if the call only occurred once regardless of number of forms on the page. I note there is an option for: “Use AJAX for JavaScript check” * I believe this is the action causing our issues, but it says turning it off can cause issues with caching plugins. Yep, as soon as possible would be appreciated. The link I sent is a development copy of a live site that we have had to disable the anti-spam.
