 * I’m having the same issue, ever since updating to the latest WordPress version
   Saturday and have yet to find someone with an answer.

 * It looks like it is actually the posts widget causing the white space in the 
   footer as I tried taking different widgets out and that’s the one that fixed 
   it… But I guess I was using the Jetpack one, so I’ll try using the other one.

 * Also, in the secondary sidebar we are using the posts widget with featured images…
   And it isn’t showing the updated featured images
