The problem had to do with the .htaccess file and the absence of the /wptww declaration for RewriteBase, since my wordpress installation resides in its own folder. No effect. – When network disabled, I then enabled the the custom theme for /beauty, individually, in its own menu. * How does one go about populating the 2nd site with posts?
