I have not had a chance to test the fix you suggested. I use ManageWP to backup and clone sites–which has worked perfectly in the two years I’ve used it. The problem is that I have to disable the Advanced Ads plugin before cloning the site or it crashes the staging site. Disabling the plugin to make a new backup and clone the site takes 20-40 minutes–during which no ads are appearing on the site. It probably isn’t much dollar-wise, but I was hoping to find another way to do this because even if I did it this way, the new site would crash (I’m assuming) as soon as I activated the plugin. I could ask my developer to try renaming the folder but just haven’t gotten around to doing so because then he’s going to ask me a dozen questions. : ) I run TeachThought by myself and am the father of 4 children and so time is extremely scarce. Would love to hide the numbers. Mine magically reset. Had a post today with over 300 RTs reset to zero. Happens once or twice a week to random posts. And deactivating digg digg breaks the site, so I can’t get rid of it either.
