 * This has worked! I still need to replace the old posts and put the old website
   content in to WP pages, but everything seems to be linked up the way it should
   be.

 * I couldn’t get anything to work – I ended up reinstalling WordPress completely.
   Links to individual posts are still directing to the homepage for some reason,
   but I’ve recovered the blog. Thanks for the suggestions; I’ll have another look
   at it tomorrow. I’m WordPressed out.

 * Sorry, the extra http is an error – i didn’t notice it at the time.
    The WordPress
   address is [http://www.flourandwater.co.uk/blog](http://www.flourandwater.co.uk/blog),
   and the Site address [http://www.flourandwater.co.uk](http://www.flourandwater.co.uk).
 * Basically, I want to use WordPress as a CMS as well as to power the blog, but
   when I installed it originally I put it in a subdirectory called ‘blog’. As a
   result, the static pages I was experimenting with all had URLs starting [http://www.flourandwater.co.uk/blog/](http://www.flourandwater.co.uk/blog/),
   whereas I wanted them to start [http://www.flourandwater.co.uk/](http://www.flourandwater.co.uk/),
   with only the blog page being [http://www.flourandwater.co.uk/blog](http://www.flourandwater.co.uk/blog).
 * I thought this would be easy enough, but I spent four hours on it last night,
   managed to completely break the site and had to recover it by fiddling with myPHPAdmin.
   I’m sure this must be pretty simple really, but I’ve obviously missed something,
   and neither the Codex nor my (basically useless) copy of WordPress for Dummies
   can help.

 * I can see this is a fairly old post, but for what it’s worth by now, I’ve also
   had problems with this book. Possibly the same problem. Are you referring to 
   the code in the section ‘Putting It All Together’ starting on page 508? Because
   you’re right, the code in the line by line version and the complete version _is_
   different, and _neither_ version is correct. It took me the best part of an hour
   to debug it. I’m ******* furious.
 * If it’s still relevant, I can give you the right code.
