 * On multi-site would it be possible to move the participants-databa.php to the
   network folder to allow this to function?

 * I had a similar problem, but I discovered that it was because I was trying to
   use the plugin on WP multi-site installation (subsite). The plugin only worked
   on the root url (home.com vs home.com/child)
    This may not solve your problem,
   but it could help someone else.
