 * Have you tried viewing your website in a Private / Incognito Browser? Your browser
   may have cached your site to speed up your browsing and that’s what you’re seeing.
 * Don’t terminate your old hosting until you’ve backed up everything, including
   the database.

 * This guide on switching from a single WordPress site to a multisite installation
   should sort it for you:

 * During step 2, select sub-domains rather than sub-directories.

 * You just need to either change the Nameservers or DNS Records to point your domain
   to your hosting provider.
 * So contact your hosting provider, ask them for their nameservers then login to
   your Hover account and replace Hover’s default nameservers.
 * If you’ve set it up through WordPress.com with a custom domain then all the details
   you need will be on their support site > [https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/](https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/)

 * Contact FastHosts support team, they’ll be able to resolve this for you. It’s
   an issue with them rather than WordPress.
 * Hope you get it sorted soon 🙂

 * There’s not really any need to rebuild it. What I meant is take a backup of what
   is currently there and restore it to a new hosting package (with a totally irrelevant
   domain name), one you don’t use and just play with.
 * There’s a few plugins on the market that’ll back it up for you to say dropbox.
   Then you can create a new WordPress installation on another hosting account,
   install the plugin and just restore the old site.
 * You’ll need to go through into the Database and change the URLs, from the old
   to the new.
 * But at least it’ll enable you to then make sure it’s properly replicated and
   then find out what does happen when you do switch host and update.

 * Are the nameservers set to ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2.dreamhost.com and ns3.dreamhost.
   com?
 * If so, the DNS settings are still controlled through your DreamHost account so
   just go into them and delete the A Records for blank and “www” – this will stop
   the domain being pointed to your site so whilst it still exists, visitors don’t
   go to that site.
    You’ll just need to add the new servers IP address if you decide
   to build a new site with a new host.
 * If the nameservers aren’t dreamhost.com, then see that they are – that’ll be
   a good indication as to where your site is hosted.

 * I like to update everything WordPress, themes and plugins as soon as possible,
   since a lot of new releases has security fixes but if the vendor has added &
   edited code directly to the files then updating them will wipe all of that out–
   which will most likely remove features from the site.
 * In which case, you’re sort of between a rock & a hard place, stuck between outdated
   or losing features the client requested.
 * Could always take a backup, create the site and experiment what happens when
   you do update it – before doing it on the live site.

 * First start by creating the new page, then go to **Settings > Reading** and change
   the “Front page displays” option to **A static page** and select your new home
   page from the drop down list.
 * If you don’t want a blog page at all you can leave the “Posts page” as it currently
   is.
    If you do want one you’ll need to create a blank page just enter the title(
   most likely “Blog”) and select that new page from the **Posts page**dropdown.

 * Hi,
 * I’m having the same problem at the moment, trying to sort it for a friend.
    Can
   either of you tell me the code needed and where it should be placed?
 * Thanks,
    Ben
