I went into Mailpoet settings and there was a link to suggested 3rd party mailers and I discovered Sendgrid so I’ll setup a free account with them. I actually went to the plugin list and Mailpoet was listed as deactivated for some reason. I activated it and it started working properly. By the way, now that Mandrill doesn’t offer a free service, is there any service you can recommend for sending emails? Our volume is still very light so it’s not worth it to pay for this service yet. It’s merged with Mailchimp. In particular #3 – if I don’t check off “enable mail poet cron” then what happens? Obviously since that options exists, it means emails COULD BE SENT without enabling the mail poet cron – how? * Okay so I am currently set to “enable mail poet” and “I’ll do it myself” – and wpengine said they set crons to run every minute and they say this should work. However, I didn’t give them a URL and they said their system can’t accept a URL… so do they not know what they are talking about? They did say they changed some wordpress default setting so that crons go off every minute instead of based on user traffic. They said this should fix it… * but now I am confused about the setting I should choose in mail poet. Users got the nightly email THREE TIMES but I’m so confused about what to do here. Lot’s of confusion! * 1. your website contradicts itself all over the place. It constantly repeats everywhere that if you have low traffic, you cannot use mailpoet’s cron. But now you are saying because I have high traffic, I cannot use it? I’m very confused, 2. under geeky options it says “enable mail poets cron” and then there are two options – the first one being “I’ll setup a cron myself”. Sooo… why is “I’ll setup a cron” a subset of “enable mail poets cron”? Which is it? am I using my own cron or mail poets cron when I have a “high traffic” website? 3. what happens if I don’t check off “enable mail poets cron”? There is a possibility the emails will be sent? 4. okay hate to repeat #2 but if I check off “use mail poet’s corn” then why am I also setting up a cron on my server? 5. Finally – I have multiple emails with different schedules… so what frequency should I use in the manual cron?
