We did disable ftp last week due to the server going down and thought it might be add a bit of security after last months breaches but I’d there is a backdoor I’m guessing that wouldn’t matter if ftp was enabled or not. * Thanks * Nicky * Forum: [Fixing WordPress](https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/) In reply to: [website hacked and unable to change password to log back in](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/website-hacked-and-unable-to-change-password-to-log-back-in/) * Thread Starter [batchout](https://wordpress.org/support/users/batchout/) * (@batchout) * [10 years, 8 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/website-hacked-and-unable-to-change-password-to-log-back-in/#post-6584355) * yes it is strange as the hack the last time allowed me to change the password and just went ahead and cleared out what i could find and got it back up and running. * I’ve gone into wp_options removed the title that said it had been hacked and changed the charset back from uft-7 to uft8 so from a viewers perspective the site looks fine it’s just i can’t get in to update any of them and the hack removes all the other widgets from the footer so need to add them back. * The hack seems to add a bit of script to an innactive widget so i was hoping to remove that from within the wp_options table in phpmyadmin but what’s in the value boxes isn’t exactly what i thought it would be like the script so i could just remove it. We have a number of websites with the same issue of being hacked and none of them are accepting a new password.
