   Probably best to use excerpt now, right? But how does that work exactly?

 * Let me explain I want to create a static page on which I briefly describe a range
   of different books. I want to use the read more tag to link each book introduction
   to a full review. That is what I want to create. So in fact it is more like creating
   a blog roll on a page.

 * What are you saying? That you cannot edit the default WP theme?
    It seems that
   it is the proper way to edit the theme, but it does not help me solving the problem
   right? Since it is a known problem.
