 * Sounds very close to what I want. I have both sites on the same host, so they
could both easily access the same file area. But I don’t quite see how your plugin
works: can I tell it once and for all that I want to use one place for files
and then it reads that area and updates the media database? Or do I have to manually
ask for an update? Or do you mean that you read that area and copy the files
to the wp-content\uploads of each site? In which case the files will still be
   doubled up?

 * Thanks for responding! However: Multisite Shared Media seems to simply sync two
different locations to contain the same files, not letting 2 sites use the same
   file area?
 * And the other seems way outdated.
 * Rather strange, I find, since I see lots of people ask about the same functionality
I’m looking for, but I can’t find a good solution.

 * I changed plugin, so I won’t be following up on this. Thanks for answering, though!
 * But another question: can your category tree have the posts themselves as outer
leaves? Meaning that you can click a category and see a _listing_ of all posts
in it, instead of getting a page with the posts themselves?

 * Good idea, but I was thinking maybe there already is a plugin that does what
   I want?

 * Thanks, I realized that afterwards and got great support there, so everything’s
OK. And if someone wonders: yes, you have to have both the “Basic” version and
   the “Premium” installed!
