    I deactivated all other plugins and it fixed the issue. But I reactivated
   the plugins one by one and the problem did not come back.

 * Yes, it does, but this seems to be happening for some EDD links after a while
   they have been uploaded. By the way, the ones that are not opened are all pdf
   files.

 * Thank you for your reply.
    The reason why my thumbnails did not show up was that
   two scripts were minified automatically; jquery-core and another relating to 
   lazy load of images. Just rated your plugin 5-star!
