 * Wanted to add: I did delete wp-comments-post.php from my server and replace it
   with the same file from a fresh download of WP 3.5.2. I get the same 404 error.

 * Hi Tara-
 * I’ll try to trackback thing.
 * I was just using a captcha plugin, and I hadn’t had to deal with even one spam
   comment since activating it. As soon as I deactivated all my plugins, as some
   solutions to the comment 404 error suggest, the spam comments started rolling
   back in. I had not changed anything when the 404 error for comments began. So
   I still don’t know if it happened when I activated a new theme.
 * I don’t mind activating Twenty Eleven to see if my current them (Cave)is the
   issue, but I don’t want to leave Twenty Eleven the theme for any length of time–
   I really like Cave and would like to continue using it, if possible. Should I
   just disable comments for now?

 * Weirdly, I’m getting spam comments again after I turned off my captcha. However,
   I still cannot get comments to post. But spam bots can??

 * Oh, sorry. I had just installed CommentLuv right before I posted this topic on
   the forums. I was just curious if it overrides the way comments normally function.

 * If I switch themes, will that lose the customization I’ve done to Cave since
   activating it, in case I want to use Cave again without starting from scratch?
 * > I hope that is not all you did after being hacked.
 * We changed all the passwords to everything possible involved with my site (FTP,
   cpanel, wordpress admin,e tc.) And my host went through and deleted the toxic
   code that was put there by the hacker. Also restored from a back-up of my site
   that was made before I started having problems.

 * I’m sorry I didn’t reply! My website got hacked again and it took days for my
   host to get it back online. But yes, “2nd are you want to change the hyperlink
   on your header logo?” is what I was asking about. Thanks for telling me how to
   do that!

 * Interesting…
 * My host is 3ix.
 * To give you a little back story:
 * My WP blog disappeared entirely. After some investigation, we found that my WP
   database wasn’t THERE anymore. I communicated with my host’s support using live
   chat, told them the db was no longer listed in my cpanel, the support tech said“
   hold on a sec”, et voila! My db was back. Since then, though, I have had no luck
   getting my blog back. I’ve tried various combinations of db names, usernames,
   etc, with no luck.
 * I’ll try all that again though and see if I have any luck!

 * Thanks for the reply.
 * I have tried both of those ways of listing the database name.
 * “We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and
   password is okay) but not able to select the WordPress database.”
 * I’m at a loss, and am unsure of what the next possible solution could be.

 * Is it possible that this is an issue with my host, rather than the WP files in
   my database?

 * That’s actually where I got the user name and database name, which I plugged
   into the appropriate fields in the wp-config.php file.
