 * Just displaying the integer value of the slider would help.
 * It doesn’t have to be a calculated value, just an indication that when you moved
   the slider it was actually to a new integer.

 * Little case study for you from last night.
 * A friend was working on site optimization for a relatively new and “light” blog.
 * He is on shared hosting and isn’t yet using a CDN (though he probably will be
   within the next 24 hours.
 * He was hovering around the 3 second mark for starting to render just using the
   disk page cache from W3TC which is what most reviews of the plugin cover.
 * He can’t really influence his time to first byte on a shared hosting plan other
   than to serve a static page, so he thought there wasn’t much more he could do.
 * I pursuaded him to dig into the minification options.
 * The site: [http://docsheldon.com/](http://docsheldon.com/)
    Webpage speed test:
   [http://www.webpagetest.org/result/101107_AYMY/](http://www.webpagetest.org/result/101107_AYMY/)
 * 0.857 seconds to start rendering on IE7 which is a worst case scenario.
 * From time to first byte to start rendering we knocked about 1.5 seconds off the
   load time. The remaining .5 second is due to differences in server load and time
   to first byte.
 * There are still some modest improvements to be made.
 * I doubt 1/1000 W3TC users have exhausted the possibilities of using W3TC.

 * If you really want to test out mod_pagespeed, pop over to the mailing list and
   there is a reference there for a proxy.
 * [http://torbit.com/proxy.php](http://torbit.com/proxy.php)
 * In testing a test page on my site that is fairly well configured the proxy mod_pagespeed
   caused a 4 point decrease in my PageSpeed 1.9 score 🙂
 * As in it went down from 92 to 88
 * As far as I can see it doesn’t give you any advantage over w3tc and the effort
   to set it up is far more than w3tc.

 * Noindex doesn’t mean no crawl (I am sure I mentioned this in an email to you)
 * You might noindex all your tags and categories, but you would still want Google
   to crawl them.

 * Version 1.3 still creates zero byte sitemaps in the root directory even when
   switched off.

 * Even worse – the files are created even if you have sitemap switched off.
 * An incorrect sitemap can have a negative effect on crawling.
 * Due to this removing plugin from live sites

 * TML 6.0.3 still blocks things and I also tried the latest alpha dev build.
 * The connection is made with Facebook, but the redirect afterwards doesn’t happen,
   thus a user account is not created and they don’t get logged in.
 * It only seems to be an issue if you want accounts created automatically with
   SFC_REGISTER_TRANSPARENT set to true.

 * Just trying to apply some logic to it
 * Categories and tags are not automatically interconnected, but they can easy be
   interconnected if you use the category name as a tag as well.
 * Then you have a tag that is related to all the other tags in the same category,
   that you can use to build a cloud specific to the category.

 * vkaryl – themes only had to be made writable server side, thus not a major issue,
   and then only if the theme couldn’t find something to hook onto, which seems
   to be anly a problem with a few themes.
 * I have got a programmer working on some scripts again (I had a long offline break),
   though the first priority is something a lot more functional than this plugin.
 * I am still trying to solve Jerry’s problems in comments on the site (though I
   can’t find where to download that linkware theme he is using), and I still intend
   to have some more funtionality for switching graphics etc.
 * I wish IE7 would go final so it gives incentive to create lots of PNGs too.
 * The site is now
 * [http://wpplugins.info](http://wpplugins.info) (I switched to respect the upcoming
   WordPress trademark and the WP teams wishes)
 * Thus details are now
 * Plugin Name: Snowfall
    Version: 0.9.1 rc2 Plugin URI: [http://wpplugins.info/category/plugins/snowfall/](http://wpplugins.info/category/plugins/snowfall/)
   Description: Snowfall creates the effect of falling snowflakes, leaves, hearts,
   flowers etc. Author: Andy Beard Author URI: [http://www.wpplugins.info](http://www.wpplugins.info)
 * Note no changes were made to the plugin other than the URL
 * On/Off button – I would implement it np, gives me a change to add a more obvious
   link as many plugin authors do, if people don’t mind it taking up space on their
   screen.
 * Would sidebar or footer be more appropriate?
 * Would you like the visitor to be able to change graphic effects just like a theme
   viewer?

 * I class myself as a non-programmer, thus I would tend to look for a work-around.
 * Can’t you just use your RSS feeds to output a nice title with excerpt?

 * vkaryl – It is going to probably be a dropdown menu with a list of all graphic
   files.
    I am not sure yet how to implement this if I allow for multiple images.
 * totalidea – I will certainly think about adding some “progressive” effects.
 * jonlandrum – beside the main div – I will look into it, but it depends on how
   many people are going to use it.
 * In theory I could turn this into a whole animated overlay management system,
   but I can only see it being used a few times per year, and the more “features”
   that get added, the more complicated it will be to use.
 * Plus I have 7 other plugins or plugin components (depending on implementation)
   lined up, and I would like to get those in circulation before what will most
   likely be a code rewrite on this one.
 * I definately need a collection of “hearts & flowers” for 1 month’s time.
 * I also plan to have random fireworks at some time.
