Hi @wfpeter! thanks, that makes sense. I tried a couple times with maximum execution time for each scan stage to 8, and turned debugging mode off. still no luck, but I will try with more time between / check the resource usage and make sure it is low before starting.
I ran a test and looked at the resource usages in my cPanel. I can see that during the scan, the I/O was creating the most faults and may be the limiting factor. My I/O limit is 1 mb / s. As for RAM, not really hitting the limit or maybe just barely, also fewer but still some CPU faults but it might just be related to the I/O?
since it’s causing such an issue, I was wondering if there is a way to scan without being limited by my host, like more locally on my computer. or anything else to try like disabling other plugins?

hi @wfpeter, no worries I’m glad it got sent.
I tried using the ip4v option ON and trying each of the 3 litespeed noabort methods in my htaccess and it still did not finish, I can send the updated log by email again if you want to check that out. I’m not sure if my server is litespeed so maybe I can check with my hosting? is there anything else I should ask them if so?

thank you for the reply! I will do what you wrote & copy what I did below.
- checked on cpanel that max_execution_time is set to 30
- I am not able to allocate all 512 mb to wordfence, so I have been using around 150 – 200, in this case 160.
- have made sure the previous scan is stopped
- set the maximum execution time for each scan in wordfence settings to 20 & saved
- enabled debug mode and saw that remote scanning is already off.
- started a new scan (with only one scan option checked — the first one, scan for misconfigured)
and then it failed and here are the last 20 lines (most recent at top)

– checked php error log
– tried different amounts of RAM to allocate, different maximum execution time second amounts (10, 20)
– ONLY selecting this option to run: “Scan for out of date, abandoned, and vulnerable plugins, themes, and WordPress versions” because it sounded lightest
