 * jason_lane – your solution actually removes the ‘settings’ option from all of
   my plugins.
 * mc_van – your option 2 is not correct – all my plugins have one settings option,
   that all point to mailchimp. If I deactivate mailchimp it removes the settings
   option from (nearly) all of the other plugins. I know these plugins DO normally
   have settings links as I’ve been using them for a long time.

 * Also, if I completely delete Mailchimp (via ftp) I also lose the ‘settings’ button
   on every plugin
