 * As mentioned in the announcement, this was for pMachine 2.0 . It’s GPL so you
are free to do whatever you want. It’d be nice if you publish the results. I
don’t have any short-term plans to update the script as I don’t use pMachine
   at all anymore.
I believe there is another pMachine import script that supports
2.3 and the next (1.3) version of WP has new import functionality, you may want
   to check that.

a bit better. What did you like about Gudlyf’s ?

it be more broad (“This week, one year ago”,. etc.) ?

 * Stevarino: Right on! Your second version did it for me. I also see the Comments
   link is updated.
Do you think there would be something similar to be able to
provide shorter trackback URLs too ? Do trackbacks work with only a post number?

 * File permissions has nothing to do with the admin upload capabilities. If I restrict
uploads to only the admin, the directory still has to be 766 which leaves it
open to other manipulations (like file-replacement by other users on the same
   server).

 * A file manager is the first (and most likely only) step to get total control
   of an account.

 * Redneck: I’m guessing you’re doing this for a customer or for profit (since it’s
a shopping cart). Why not ask the OS Commerce team / developers to improve it
and offer to pay for it ? You may be in for a good surprise – perhaps someone’s
even already done it or planning it.

 * Sometimes I answer even the obvious repetitive questions by doing a cut & paste
of what I find and ending with “I searched for XXX in the Wiki”, etc.. with precise
   links.
Unfortunately the FAQ and documentation links from the main site are
so badly presented and incomplete, that may be another reason why site visitors
just use the forums. The FAQ even encourages writing to the forums instead of
searching! I wish I could change that, fortunately there’s the [wiki](http://wiki.wordpress.org/index.php/MagicFab)
to express myself 🙂 I think it’s just easier & faster to fire off questions
without searching, until people realize an answer may never show up (check the
0-reply posts). Maybe then they’ll see that taking the extra 2 *seconds* to enter
a search term (and document their finding after that for others) will help them.
But that is forcing them to put that extra effort, instead of designing properly
   from the beginning.

 * (more…) is hardcoded in the \wp-includes\class-smarty.php file (line 179)
    There’s
also some logic for displaying more… content in the get_the_content() function(\
wp-includes\template-functions.php). Search in the files for the “more…” or “
more” strings. For an example of code that hides content, see [http://yulblog.org](http://yulblog.org).
Click on the link “What is the meta-blog…”.

 * peb: I followed (and updated) the [5-minute-install](http://wiki.wordpress.org/index.php/5-minute-install)
   guide with success.
However, I would suggest your try [WP 1.02](http://wordpress.org/support/6/3105)
instead. It’s not officially released yet, but if you think you can help testing
it, it’s supposed to fix most (if not all) problems listed in the forums. Once
you’ve installed it, go back to the thread I mention and comment it. I installed
it and have been using it for the past few days (ok, 24hrs) without problems.

 * I think those files *should* be deleted after each install. They only provide
more ways to potentially break an installation and provide information about
the system they’re on that could help attackers. The installation script should
provide an option to delete unnecessary files once it’s completed.
