My apologies for not answering back. Thanks to ramiabraham and paulwpxp for taking the time to look at my site. I really appreciate that. It was broken when I wrote and I knew things were not quite right. I have taken a few lynda.com training courses ha! and I know a tad more than I did. I uploaded the latest version of Azione because it is one of the best for video and I hate to give up. I basically started all over sans designer. I have had some bad experiences with web designers and I wanted to be able to run a WordPress site by myself. Unfortunately I had Custom CSS done to the site to be able to display the categories in a grid. I updated the site according to Theme directions and the thing fell apart.It is so infuriating because I have been working on the site for two years and now it is broken and I really don’t know what to do. I really wanted to be able to manage it myself. It is a simple idea and frankly I can’t believe someone hasn’t designed a site to manage a video directory. I have spent weeks trying to solve site issues. If I had a good template I would have been much farther along. Azione was the closest I could find but it needed to be tweaked and now I am back to ground zero unless someone can help me recreate the category grids. The update to the theme replaced widgets and so the site no longer worked right. Azione sort of put it back together but not really and then they said ok we are done. I am left with a site that is broken. It does not load right – something is off and I am aware that it has lots of images on the home page but no more than before the update and now it takes forever to load. I would sure appreciate some advice. It’s interesting. The man who fixes my kitchen sink has to be licensed. Why shouldn’t the person who has complete control over my business advertising have to be responsible for their work? Seriously. I mean think about it, what other profession can single handedly take down a business in a matter of minutes and not be responsible in any way? They can innocently continue this ridiculousness because they can talk circles around their average non web designer clients. They can throw statistics, analytics and internet hoopla that would befuddle even the most sophisticated, educated and internet savvy clients. It’s an unfortunate, undesirable and I hope, quickly recognized trait. High level web designers have their own doubletalk foreign language for crying out loud and club members, out of necessity have to protect each other. Occasionally you get the outlier who figures out a better faster way and he leaves the club no doubt with many lost cyber buddies because he has annihilated their way of working the system. Am I sounding a bit harsh? I have worked with four different web designers over the last three years and there are disturbingly consistent similarities amongst them. I could describe how they work alone, in the dark of the night, unseen, communicating only through their computers, unreachable, and completely capable of doing absolutely anything they want to people’s businesses but I won’t. I will just say that they all withhold knowledge to gain power and project disinformation which equals even more power than withholding it. I have just offended each and every web designer out there and the ones who are most offended are probably the worst offenders but if they are honest about their web design activities, they fully recognize the mind boggling rate of technical development and the increasing need to be seen on the internet and know that their profession is part of the wild west right now. Unfortunately, like in any profession the unscrupulous will find an area that is unregulated where they can manipulate and use the situation as long as they can go undetected. I am not saying there aren’t good cowboys out there, because there are and they want to do the right thing and want to help people but often they just don’t win. If it’s possible to be philosophical I guess it depends on your definition of winning. If it means protecting your job and making money, bad men often do win and good men often lose. But if your definition of success is happiness than the good guy wins because doing the right thing (guaranteed custom web design, full disclosure of potential update issues, helpful advice, prevention of future problems, being available, etc.)is goodness to the soul while badness is ultimately chasing a big nothing. Think about this, how often have you known you had full control over the existence of a person’s internet business? How did it feel? What attracts you to that kind of power?
