• I wonder if anyone has any possible solutions/workarounds for the following. I want to use Zotero and Zotpress to handle reviews of books.

Unfortunately. Zotero does not have Reviews as an item type. So there are no fields for Reviewer details. This is a limitation in Zotero, not Zotpress of course.

My solution at present is to duplicate the reviewed Book (B) in Zotero and change the title to ‘Review of (B)’. But where to put the reviewer details (R)?
Using Abstract=”yes” in Zotpress as a workaround gives ‘Abstract: R’ which is it should be but is misleading on the page for this context.
Using Notes in Zotero creates a very nicely formatted note in Zotpress but is again misleading on the page in this context.

Does anyone, including Katie of course, have suggestions for the best Zotero field to use which is also supported, without in this context a misleading format, in Zotpress? Many thanks in advance for suggestions.

Not sure if I understand but is it misleading on the front-end? If so, could use a little JavaScript to dynamically change the displayed field name on load. What do you think?

Thanks Katie. Perhaps ideally. and for the maximum flexibility, the Zotero field Extra could be loaded with a user specified label in the shortcode. Is that possible?

This would be more like an adaptation on your end, either by modifying your theme falls to make the right JS calls or using a plugin.

Why not treat a book review as a magazine article or website, depending on where you published it? That’s what I do.
