They locked me out of my site. When they sent me a link through my email, I clicked on it and got the following message “{“error”:”Bad Request”,”message”:”Invalid input.”}” How can you lock people out of their own sites and then provide a broken link an no direct support? They asked me to login to get support and sent me to WP – I logged in but Jetpack says I am not logged in. Their support is as close to ZERO as I have found. Seriously THE WORST PLUGIN I HAVE INSTALLED!

Sorry for the trouble you’ve run into!

If you are having trouble reaching our support via https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support or do not feel that you have received a timely response, you can always reach out to us via our support forums at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/ . We are very active over there.

I have checked both our email support system and our forums here, and can find no recent support requests from you.

The system you’re encountering is called Protect, it locks out IP addresses after a set number of failed login attempts, which keeps your site safe from brute force attacks.

As for the bug you encountered, we are working on it, but we’re still trying to track down details as to why it’s happening, since only very few people are affected compared to the total number of folks using it: https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/8322

If you’d share the URL of the site you’re having trouble with, we can correct that for you now. Alternatively, you can whitelist your IP so that it is never blocked for suspicious activity: https://jetpack.com/support/security-features/#settings

And, of course, you can also stop it by accessing your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigating to /wp-content/plugins/ and deleting the whole /jetpack/ directory there.

Please let us know if you have any more questions!

“The system you’re encountering is called Protect, it locks out IP addresses after a set number of failed login attempts,” Would that number be set at one? Because that is the number of tries I attempted to login to my site. I never accessed the site – was sent straight to Jetpack jail.

You incorrectly block my IP – on a computer that I exclusively use for my site. Then you send me a link that does not work. Then you ask me to login to WP before I can submit a support ticket to you – which I do —- only for your site to tell me I am not logged in.

You have a lot of issues.

No, it’s higher, but we can’t publicly disclose specifics.

Because that is the number of tries I attempted to login to my site.

I suspect a sever misconfiguration is causing the server’s IP to be sent in headers before the visitor’s IP, hence Protect thinks everyone logging into the server is the same IP, so it just takes one rotten egg to spoil the bunch.

We have a very simple way to correct this on our end for your site, but we need to know your site’s URL first.
