Support » Plugins and Hacks » YouTube.com Video

  • Hi,

I was told just to paste the YouTube.com code video into the WP post.
I tried just pasting it in the post and in the HTML tag.

It just shows a square with a non working plugin.

I have no idea what to do next.

    Im on WP 2.0

    I hope someone helps me.

    Cheers,

Or if you want to show a video AND gallery, there’s “option B”

    I’m hooked on VaamYob’s 🙂

VaamYob: is there a fail-safe in case YouTube.com is down so there could be alternative content saing site is currently down?

    Just a thought 🙂

The problem is that once the HTML is rendered, the player/browser will be communicating with youtube directly so it’s out of my hands.

    i.e.
    1. I check and youtube is ok, so I generate and send the html
    2. The browser gets the html for the plugin code and asks youtube for the feed
    3. Someone kicks out the power cord at youtube.com
    4. Browser times out

    Ah ok 🙂

By the way, the flash player used is that pulled from You Tube?

    VaamYob

    (@vaamyob)

yes, the flash player is hosted on youtube’s site.

you just gave me some real good hope

    thank you

I have installed VaamYob’s plugin “mytube” in the plugin folder and pasted the embedded file link (example: <object width=”425″ height=”350″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/VxjiCyE2gd0″></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/VxjiCyE2gd0″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”425″ height=”350″></embed></object>) and i still get a hollow box where the video should be. What am I doing wrong??

If that’s what you’re pasting in your post, then you’re bypassing my plugin altogether.

    To use my plugin,
    1. switch over to the simple editor
    2. click on the button to display a video
    3. paste the video id when prompted (i.e. VxjiCyE2gd0)
    4. sit back and enjoy the video !

    Hey all,

I drove myself crazy today because I wanted to easily embed YouTube while keeping the WYSIWYG editor turned on. I figured out how and did a write-up. Thought I’d track down fellow frustrated wordpressers and let you know that it’s been done, and fairly easily:
