Hi, your documentation shows examples of YouTube embeds working with external subtitle files, but when I tried it, I couldn’t make it work. What’s the correct way to insert a YouTube video in WordPress so that it shows my own subtitles (not the ones on YouTube)? When I try to use the plugin to insert a shortcode with a youtube link and uploaded subtitles, only the video is being displayed. I tried VTT and SRT.

    Hello scr00chy,

    Thanks for reaching to us!

Are you sure that your .vtt file was in the right format? If yes, everything should work fine.

Here’s a link to our guide on how to correctly make subtitles for FV Player

    Thanks,

    Hi Scroochy,

There may be an issue with YouTube showing alternative captions. YouTube playback is a little bit different as YouTube is always messing around with the stream and trying to interfere with it by adding links and overlays to YouTube.

Our demos of subtitles do include YouTube subtitles but not external ones: https://foliovision.com/player/demos/youtube-subtitles

You are able to add external subtitles to Vimeo videos though as this demo shows: https://foliovision.com/player/demos/subtitles

If we have documentation of adding external subtitles to YouTube videos, please let me know and we’ll run some tests.

    Thanks, Alec
