Support » Plugin: YouTube Channel » YouTube Channel v3.0.0

  • Dear users,

New version 3.0.0 of YouTube Channel has been release.

Main difference since v2.x branch is that now we use YouTube Data API v3 so to make plugin to work, you’ll need to generate YouTube Data API Key and insert it to wp-config.php file.

Learn more about Obtaining authorization credentials and for detailed instructions how to generate your own API Key watch video YouTube Developers Live: Registering for Read-only v3 Access

When you generate your own YouTube Data API Key, edit wp-config.php file and find line

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    Insert above that line code

just replace keyword YOUR_API_KEY with your real API Key previously generated (surround API key to single quotes). For example, if your key is AIzaCuBWKZLyQthAgV3ofeYtCwrMSYvm6tX8IEY then that line should be:
    define('YOUTUBE_DATA_API_KEY', 'AIzaCuBWKZLyQthAgV3ofeYtCwrMSYvm6tX8IEY');

Also, review global plugin settings (Settings -> YouTube Channel) and widgets and shortcodes you inserted to content site wide.

Please note, instead old Legacy username used in previous versions of plugin, since v3.0.0 for Channel ID use value starting with UC which you can find on page (you must be logged in to YouTube to see your own Channel ID).

We also changed some shortcode parameters and drop some settings/options, so please check Description, Installation and ChangeLog before you ask questions.

    Kind regards,

  • hello
downloading and installing was good but when i activate the Plugin came this:

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /www/htdocs/w011ab9a/VecorsWP/wp-content/plugins/youtube-channel/youtube-channel.php on line 89

    my Page:

can you say me what that is?

I followed your instructions and this is the message I get:

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /home/rockymou/public_html/wp-content/plugins/youtube-channel/youtube-channel.php on line 89

Released 3.0.1 with instant fix. Please confirm is not activation OK?

    the activation is ok.

can i make the videos show on an new tab?

@VectorsDE please open new support topic for that, and please provide detailed explanation what you wish to achieve.

As dozens of users complained because editing core WP file (wp-config.php) as “too much” for setting up simple plugin, I made API Key field in plugin settings.

So, since v3.0.6 you can set YouTube Data API Key directly in plugin settings (General tab), w/o editing wp-config.php.

If you already set key in wp-config.php, it will be copied to plugin settings.
