Hi @arconsulting, What did you search to find 249+ pages of result? When I search for “WP eCommerce quantity” I only get 3 pages of results (in the Support search form): https://wordpress.org/search/WP+eCommerce+quantity+intext%3A%22Plugin%3A+WP+eCommerce%22/?forums=1

I completely agree with the poster’s sentiment. The search function is largely inefficient – more often than not I find more plugins – that do not appear in the search; in the first 5 or 6 pages, anyway – through google, often bearing an exact search word or phrase used, i.e. “media category,” etc.

I do in fact find many plugins through google that i first searched for in WP plugins.

as well, I often come across a plugin in the repository that should have appeared in a previous search but did not.

so much time ya’ll spent redoing the repository only to release a less than trustworthy search function.

I think there may be many issues, but here is what I found. I was looking for quantity issues for the WP eCommerce plugin on the support pages of WordPress.

If you search for something, like “WP eCommerce quantity”, when you click the first link, it leads to a search page with a list of posts, which isn’t ideal (why doesn’t go directly to the individual post), but the more serious issue is that the post mentioned isn’t shown in the search results page you arrive at. Search results are about three pages off.

If you search for in support pages:
    WP eCommerce quantity

First item on list is below. If you click it, a search result page appears, but the post isn’t on that page (page 249). It is actually on page 252:

Support » Plugin: WP eCommerce. Search for: … hoffcamp · [Plugin: WP e- Commerce] Java quantity/variations update and file uploads. Started by: christraeger.

It would be better if it went directly do the post not a search result page anyway. It does sometimes, but not always. I hope this explains the issue.

    Let me know
