Hi @wpturnedup,
Is Your submission failed because of an error
the exact error you see? Because I don’t see this exact string in MailPoet’s code, it’s harder to check where this error is coming from (a conflict with another extension can also cause this).
But in general, if the subscriber is added but the confirmation email is not sent, the error likely happens while sending the email, which means there might be an issue with the sending method. Does sending other emails work (e.g., preview email, email campaign, automations)?
Also, there is a broken icon displayed with the message, so this leads my to believe there is a bug with the latest version of MailPoet.
Could you please share a screenshot how this look?
Hi. Yeah, that’s the exact error. Here’s the screenshot.
I wouldn’t think that needing account approval would present an error like this, but if that’s the case, the method for reaching out to follow up for approval is quite flawed. If you look at the message below, it’s not possible to contact MailPoet unless you have a paid plan.
“If you don’t hear from us within 48 hours, please check the inbox and spam folders of your MailPoet account email for follow-up emails with the subject “Your MailPoet Subscription Review” and reply, or contact us.“
@wpturnedup, so this error is not rendered by MailPoet but rather by a 3rd-party extension. I assume this is from a form plugin that integrates with MailPoet.
The error can still come from MailPoet though. Could you please follow these steps to see, if MailPoet logs an error?
- Go to MailPoet > Settings > Advanced, change the Logging option to
Everything
, and save setting.
- In the same setting, open the
See logs
link in a new tab (admin.php?page=mailpoet-logs
).
- In a new private browser window, try subscribing via that form to generate the error you shared.
- Reload the logs page to check, if there is anything new logged, that could indicate the exact error that happened in MailPoet.
No entries are showing today. However, the below is showing, from yesterday.
[2025-02-02T20:43:40.052839+00:00] mss.ERROR: key-validation.failed {“http_code”:403,”home_url”:”https://getpolicyproof.com”,”key_type”:”premium”} {“free_plugin_version”:”5.6.3″,”premium_plugin_version”:”premium not installed”}
The tests before were when I was logged out of the site. I thought to test it while logged in, and this is what I’m getting. Nothing in the logs.
“Your submission failed because of an error.
MailPoet 3 Subscriber added to lists, but confirmation email failed to send: there was an error when sending a confirmation email for your subscription. please contact the website owner.
This message is not visible to site visitors.”
Part of that message is coming from MailPoet and is shown when the sending is paused. Considering your other post, Account Review (which you also mentioned above), the not-approved subscription is the most likely cause.
When the subscription is not approved, you can only send emails to authorized emails. We don’t recommend using not approved subscription on production, as it can cause issues like you mentioned, that the confirmation emails are not sent.
Hi. Marking closed, as we are just going to start the whole process over again. We don’t have those emails any longer.
There really should be an easier way to contact MailPoet, for free customers. I’m a paying customer and a partner of MailPoet…but I was THIS CLOSE to looking for another solution for this particular site, rather than getting into the MailPoet sales funnel.
RETHINK the communication.
