I keep getting emails from my WordPress sites with the subject line “Your Site is Experiencing a Technical Issue.” In the body of the email it says the following.

“In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Jetpack by WordPress.com.”

Looks like line 75 of the class-client.php is where the problem is.

“An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 75 of the file …/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/vendor/automattic/jetpack-connection/src/class-client.php”

I just had the same error — right after my website did an automatic update of the plugin. While I do have a backup, this happened as I was in the process of adding content.

While my site appears to be working, I am now finding that many of my web fonts won’t load and are getting a 500 error — I don’t know if that has anything to do with the Jetpack error, but it happened right around the same time.

    Any fix for this?
    Thanks

I actually can’t see anything wrong with any of the sites that are reporting the problem, but as the day goes on, more and more of them are emailing me. I host and manage about 50 websites, all with Jetpack installed, and I would say about 1/3 of them have reported the problem at this point.

Is it possible to check if the file …/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/vendor/automattic/jetpack-connection/src/class-tokens.php exist on these sites?

It’s odd but one possibility is that something went wrong during the upgrade process and this new file is missing… I’m just excluding possibilities here.

@leogermani On the two sites where I’ve gotten the technical issue email, that file does exist in both instances.

Could you all let us know if the error keeps happening on your site, or if it seemed to be a one-time error during the update process? It may indeed have been a temporary issue during the update process.

I haven’t seen a repeat email for any of my sites, but there is something else going on since this happened. If I go into the Site Health tool, it displays “Results are still loading…” and never displays a message that it finished. That was the first thing I did when I started to get the emails about this problem and so far all the sites I’ve run the Site Health tool on show the same behavior, getting stuck on the “Results are still loading…” message.

@oakhillman This seems to be a different problem. Could you try to deactivate the Jetpack plugin, and see if the results start loading again?

@jeherve I deactivated Jetpack and the results still didn’t load. So I think you’re right, a different problem not related to the subject of this thread.

From my end, this happened on both sites where I had Jetpack installed. I only received the one email and, subsequently, I was getting a red error message at the top of some pages in wp-admin saying that jetpack couldn’t connect, though the Jetpack dashboard said I was connected.

FYI, I also have Woocommerce Shipping and Tax on those websites and I think it was, somehow related to that — but I’m no longer getting any more notifications nor the error message currently.
    Thanks

    Adding my two cents.
Had the same error, debug info shows:

@tricheryltops thanks. There was an issue with WooCommerce Shipping and Tax, which received an update yesterday that should fix the connection issue.

@blamedutchie was it also a one-off error in your case?

@drawmyface It appears so. I’ve been playing with some of the Jetpack parts and the debug logs remain clear from entries.

@blamedutchie ok thanks. It looks like this error only occurred during the update process and didn’t cause any actual issues. If anyone has any more trouble, please start a new thread. Thanks!

@drawmyface Yes Dan, that was clearly the case for me and I’ve got 50 websites that updated. I would say about a third of them emailed me. But there were no repeat emails and I couldn’t find anything wrong with any of the sites.
