This site uses LearnPress to offer free video courses. When launched last year, it was working correctly, but I just discovered a problem.

When users click the “Start Now” button in a course description, they are redirected to /lp-checkout/ and prompted to sign in. However, after entering username and password, /lp-checkout/ reappears with the message “Your session has expired.” This continues and the user is never able to sign in.

I discovered that by visiting /wp-admin/ and signing in that way, I can successfully sign up for courses. The trouble is, we don’t want to offer an alternate method for signing into the site, we want to use the standard LearnPress workflow, which used to work when the site launched.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

Which LearnPress version are you using?

    Thanks

Version 4.2.5. I just noticed that there’s a version 4.2.5.1 available, so I’ll update and see if anything changes.

UPDATE: I just updated to 4.2.5.1 and now my site displays “There has been a critical error on this website.”

We released the hot fix version, please install the version 4.2.5.2 to resolve your issue.

Thank you for the hot fix. The critical error is resolved, but the error in which “Your session has expired” appears when attempting to sign in continues.

ADDITIONAL: I noticed something interesting. The “session has expired” message appears even if I enter an incorrect password, or no password at all. So perhaps /lp-checkout/ isn’t even checking the password.

Question: Is it possible for me to download an older version of LearnPress? My project was launched in December 2022 and the sign in function seemed to work at that time. Maybe rolling back to an older version will restore the functionality. Thank you.

I answered my own question and rolled LearnPress back to version 4.2.0. The sign-in system is now working correctly again, and the “your session has expired” message no longer appears.

One final update: I learned that the “Your session has expired” message first appears in LearnPress version 4.2.3.5.
