It was mentioned in many places that Breadcrumb NavXT 5.2.0 requires PHP5.3.0 or newer. You still have the option of running older versions of Breadcrumb NavXT (5.1.1 still works on PHP5.2). Additionally, you should really be moving to a newer version of PHP, the last version of PHP5.2 was released over 4 years ago.

I am receiving the same error message as seopmr, yet I checked my hosting company and that states my PHP is already version 5.4.24. Why am I still getting the message “Your PHP version is too old, please upgrade to a newer version. Your version is 5.2.17, Breadcrumb NavXT requires 5.3.0”

While you may have 5.4.24 available to you on your server, your site is not using it for some reason (C-panel setting or .htaccess setting). Please ask your hosting company about configuring/setting/changing PHP versions.

What is PHP and how do I update it?

I had this exact same problem. The Breadcrumb NacXT plugin kept giving the message – “Your PHP version is too old, please upgrade to a newer version. Your version is 5.2.17, Breadcrumb NavXT requires 5.3.0”. My host has PHP 5.4.24 installed on my server.

It turned out my website account was set to use the PHP 5.2 engine for legacy support. This confirms what John said about the site not using the latest engine on the server. To fix, go into cPanel, go to PHP Config and select PHP 5.4 as your engine. It worked for me.

Thanks Leecoder and John – that was exactly what I had to do too 😀

It seems the different versions of PHP were already available in my CPanel, I just needed to set them as active.

    Stumble…hold breath…find the answer…sigh of relief….and on we march!

Leecoder When you say cpanel do you mean in wordpress or in godaddy for example as my site is hosted there? bc I se no option for PHP config ? Help! Site has had many plugins down for 4 days now!!
