    Hi,

I am using Cloudflare with the configuration: “CF-Connecting-IP” HTTP. After saving I get this error:

Your ‘How does Wordfence get IPs’ setting is misconfigured. This site is currently using the Cloudflare “CF-Connecting-IP” HTTP header, which should only be used when the site is behind Cloudflare. For maximum security use PHP’s built in REMOTE_ADDR. Click here to use the recommended setting or visit the options page to manually update it.

I realize that I can verify that my ip is correct.

My question is: Is receiving this error normal or is it misconfigured?

    Thank you,

    Pedro.

  • Hey @pedrorafael,

It could be that CF-Connecting-IP header is missing and can’t be detected for some reason related to Cloudflare configuration, I suggest making sure first that the plugin is able to detect the IPs correctly while choosing PHP’s built-in REMOTE_ADDR option, this can be easily checked by following these steps:
    – Open your website link in a new browser window while not being logged in. (for example, Chrome incognito mode).
    – Then check your visit in “Live Traffic” log and make sure it shows your correct IP address.

Otherwise, you will need to contact Cloudflare support to make sure that CF-Connecting-IP header is added to your server.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

    Hi,

you were on top of the problem! It really was the lack of cloudflare ips headers.

    Thank you for your help!

    Pedro.
