• Hello,

Since a few days, I get this message in big red letters in my control panel.

Your backup folder MIGHT be visible to the public

To correct this issue, move the .htaccess file from /wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager to /wp-content/backup-db

    Now, I don’t have a .htaccess file in /wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager.

How do I get rid of this message?

    With my anticipated thanks,

    Henry

  • Hi Henry,
Chances are you do have a .htaccess file, however files starting with a . [dot] are ‘hidden’files and therefore not always visible.
Change your explorer settings to show hidden files, and you will probably see .htaccess and you can edit it as required.

    Thanks for your reply kwalizorg.nl

I can confirm to you that my explorer settings allow for hidden files to be shown.

But what I meant is that I do not have a .htaccess file in /wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager on my server (using ftp Filezilla to list the files).

What I do have however is a htaccess.txt file in that sub-directory. Am I supposed to move that file?

BTW, I already have a .htaccess file in /wp-content/backup-db…

    Regards,

    Henry

    Start by making a backup.
I would try to COPY that file to the other directory and see what works.
Then when succesful, remove the files from the original places.
Check if nothing broke; Restore if need be.
