    Hi Alexander

I was crawling trough the other topics and i couldn’t find a similar case, so i opened this new topic. (I just realized you’re the same developer like on polylang? I’m talking about the same test like in my topic there, but this question has nothing to do with the translations. :))

I found the checkboxes for multiple answers and they work great but you have to check the first answer all the time if you want to get to the results.

Is it possible to restrict this to any answer, so it means “Please choose at least one of the answers below if you want to get forward” and not “please choose THIS answer if you want to get forward”?

    Thanks for your feedback

    Hi Ramona,

    See related topic: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/missing-alerting-the-respondent-to-the-empty-field?replies=40

It’s a standard behaviour of browsers. They are not saying “Check 1st answer”, but something like “Check 1st item”.

Anyway I think it’s not a best text and it should be something like “You should check at least one answer in this question”. Or else.

Can you provide some good, semanthically correct and spell-checked phrases for this case?

    In english, deutsch and spanish?

    For two cases:

    * When respondent should select one answer
    * When respondent should select at least one answer

I actually need only the second case “When respondent should select at least one answer” because it’s only one question for the whole test.
Maybe you need some more background information for what we’re using the test. It’s for the site of a couple-therapist and he wants to check with this test if the visitors relationship is respectfull or not. So the more answers you choose the better is the result (and your relationship) and the less answers you choose the worse it is.

Here you go with an example:

    EN:
Please choose those answers below where you agree generally:
    1. My partner respects my feelings
    2. We listen to each other
    3. We’re really interested in each other
    4. We love spending time together
    5. There is much love in our relationship

    DE:
Bitte kreuzen Sie alle Aussagen an, denen sie generell zustimmen.
    1. Mein Partner respektiert meine Gefühle
    2. Wir hören einander zu
    3. Wir sind wirklich aneinander interessiert
    4. Wir verbringen gerne Zeit miteinander
    5. Es gibt viel Liebe in unserer Beziehung

ES: (not sure if those sentences are correct, because i’m not speaking spanish)
Por favor ponga una cruz a las afirmaciones, que sean válidas para usted.
    1. Mi pareja respeta mis sentimientos
    2. Nos escuchamos mutuamente
    3. Nos interesamos uno por el otro.
    4. Nos encanta pasar tiempo juntos
    5. En nuestra relación hay mucho amor

Do you still need some different phrases for the first case?

    Ramona, we have misunderstanding here.

As I undestand from your message at polylang branch, you work with spanish lang (“es”): https://wordpress.org/support/topic/polylang-plugin-wp-testing-psychological-tests-quizes?replies=12#post-7137475

I want from you here not your concrete question/answers, but those little info notice text, that system should show to respondent when (s)he not choosen any answer(-s).

    As promised (case “at least”):

DE: “Wählen Sie bitte mindestens eine Antwort aus.”
EN: “Please select at least one answer.”
ES: “Por favor, seleccione al menos una respuesta.”

    Hi Ramona!

    Tnx.

But another case is not here:

    * When respondent should select one answer

And main usability problem here is that always browsers highlight 1st answer.

How to better formulate the text here?

    * Text should clearly say: “Hey! You should select one answer from all answers of this question!”
    * And also it should be formulated in the way, that will not force respondent to select just those 1st answer, near which info message will arise

    Thread Starter ramona_bechter

    (@ramona_bechter)

    Ah i see.

    * When respondent should select one answer:

EN: “Please choose only one answer.”
DE: “Wählen Sie bitte nur eine Antwort aus.”
ES: “Por favor, elija una sola respuesta.”

    Is that clearly enough?
