I got error when I try to re-setup the sitekit.

    Information:

Firstly, I install successfully and have been using it for few days.
Then, I got an error that I cannot connect with SiteKit.

I seem that I wrongly config my wordpress website URL with

    http://www.mywebsite.com instead of mywebsite.com

while in google domain and Search Console it is just ” mywebsite.com ”

Therefore I clicked the manage site in the plugin and it go to this url

    https://sitekit.withgoogle.com/site-management/permissions/

with the token and show all my websites list.

I remove access to my currently problem website url.

Then I fix the wordpress general setting to be without www.

Uninstall the plug-in, reinstall and setup again.

However, when I try to grant the permission with Site Kit.

It showed error “You don’t have permissions to authenticate with Site Kit.”

    since step one.

I have try chorme in incognito mode/ deactivate other plug-in / clear cache in server and browser/ change computer to do the install.

    Nothing works.

Waiting for your best support. Thank You.

Thanks for reaching out, and thanks for sharing the troubleshooting steps you’ve undertaken. Please try the troubleshooting steps below and inform me if you’re able to proceed:

    1. Temporarily switch your “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” from https://positivecf.com to http://positivecf.com in your WordPress General Settings configuration. (please replace yourwebsite.com with your own website name)
    2. Log back into your site once requested and then undo the changes you made (reverting back to the full address with https
    3. Open a browser incognito window
    4. Attempt setup once more

If the above fails please share your Site Health information privately using this form, we can then inspect your setup and hopefully determine the cause.

Many thanks for sharing. I noticed some plugins active which can change the URL structure or which allow you to login from your hosting control panel. For further troubleshooting please attempt the steps below:

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    4. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

If the above fails please share the following and I can escalate this setup issue with the team:

    1. What do you see when you access this link (using the same Google account which you’ve used to setup Site Kit)?
    2. Was the Site Kit dashboard reporting fine for you when you were previously connected?
    3. Do you recall any changes made, at host level or with plugin configurations since being asked to reconnect?

    It fails and shows error

Oops, you don’t have access to this property

    Otherwise

If I click Search Property at the right-hand side, I can clearly see positivecf.com there.

I still think it is about “www.” and https

Was the Site Kit dashboard reporting fine for you when you were previously connected?
    = YES

Do you recall any changes made, at host level or with plugin configurations since being asked to reconnect?
= I have told you what I did since the beginning. Nothing More.

Thank for the update. I’ve discussed this with the team and the “You don’t have permissions to authenticate with Site Kit” notice can occur in the case of a user not having full WordPress administrator rights.

Can you confirm you have full WordPress administrator access with the account which you’re using to setup Site Kit?

I am the Administrator of the website

    Now, I connected again.

    I change
    the WordPress Address (URL)
    Site Address (URL)

    to be with www. again

    Then I can setup again.

However, I would like to use it without www.

    How do I do it?

It seems that Sitekit already only remember the www.
while in its console doesn’t have www. at all

Did you already have a verified Search Console property with the www prefix before attempting Site Kit setup? If not Site Kit sets up 4 different Search Console Properties to account for all versions of a domain (https/http, www/non www). You can check the variations of your site and if preferred unverify using this link.

If you then prefer to allow Site Kit to connect to your non site without the www you can try the following:

    1. Disconnect Site Kit
    2. Once again change your WordPress General Settings to your site URL without the www
    3. Attempt Site Kit setup once more

Let me know how you get on.
