You don't have permission to access /wp-admin/options.php
-
Hello everyone,
after installing a new version of wordpress on my new server and importing a friends blog on this server via wordpress import I am experiencing now a strange error when trying to save the OPTIONS in SETTINGS/GENERAL. It won’t save.
URL: caseycordes.com
Here is the error
Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/options.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I’ve tried to add various mod rewrites under the .htaccess file, that I was searching in google. However non of these rewrites worked. They did stopped the error, however wouldn’t save the settings, just open more php files in the URL.
Hope someone can help.
David

Looks like a server configuration issue. Have you contacted your host?
BTW, are you logged in as the admin?
I am hosting my own VPS server at eleven2.com – Not sure what this can be. I never experienced this issue before. It’s just that part of the site CMS.
Is there a tool to check the server requirements/specs/plugins?
You may have a look at this:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPressYou may find answers to some of the questions in some of those links.
To find if any plugin is misbehaving, you may try:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/p3-profiler/As plugins and themes can also cause problems you may try deactivating all plugins and reverting to Twenty Twelve theme too.
Thank you. Actually the same problem occurs when installing the wp software fresh on a different server. I’ve asked support to check into this. Because I never ever experienced this after a simple fresh and clean install.
Settings/General – Save will result in this error:

ForbiddenYou don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/options.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Does the error occur before you import your friend’s content?
yes, clean install.
Many hosts experienced problems due to mass attacks recently and some disabled access to wp-admin and/or wp-login.php as a temporary precaution. I’m wondering if your hosts is one of them…
I have experienced this several times and it has always been related to missing files. If you save your theme and upload a fresh version of WP it will resolve this issues.
