At some point recently the AWM Group option on the left no longer shows a popup menu, only the AWM Group page can be accessed (/wp-admin/admin.php?page=awm-group). Advanced Access Manager shows as Latest Version Installed.
Accessing the AAM page directly from browser history (/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wp_access) shows “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”. My account has administrator and super_admin role (have also tried with each).
There was a JavaScript conflict with another plugin but I believe this to be resolved. Looking at the database does not indicate that any menus should be hidden by AAM from administrator or super_admin so I don’t believe I’ve locked myself out of the admin screen, but it looks like it! I’ve also uninstalled, deleted and reinstalled, with no effect.

I fixed this by following the FAQ advice to add the aam_manage capability and setting this for the super_admin role. I’m sure super_admin should be able to do this anyway, but still, fixed it for me. I had to use another plugin to add this capability as I couldn’t get to the screen to do this in AAM: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-role-editor/
