  • Ok I have spent the last 2 hours trying to regain admin access to 1 of the sites I administer it logs me in but then I don’t have access to anything checked the usermeta and based on that I have admin access. removes all plugins and when that didn’t work renamed the plugin folder and created a new empty plugin folder. still can’t get into the admin area. have read a lot of the articles on this and can’t find anything that will get me in. I can’t make any changes or updates or monitor comments on this one site. can any body come up with an answer that might actually give me access to the site. a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;s:1:”1″;} is in the database but does nothing for me. there must be something else that could do this. like I said it logs me in but I get the following error “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”. very frustrating.

  • has any body had to deal with this issue and found a way around it I would prefer not to have to fully reinstall from scratch but that is what I will have to do if I don’t get an answer that works. An there is a lot of modification going on in this site for specific pages and it’s just a lot of work that I could live without if I could fix this one issue.

OK just found out that the only super admin user name is “admin” shouldn’t the admin be the user name of the one that set up the site? we remove admin from the site as a invalid user long ago but this issue didn’t start happening until yesterday how many level or users are there and is there an easy way to promote a user to super admin level with out having access to the admin panel I just want to fix my admin access which is non existent at this time.

i moved my db, i added prefix to it, i went and manually changed wp-config.php and added my prefix there, but now it takes my username and password for wp-admin, but i get following error

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

and i haven’t changed word press itself, i’m on same version]
that’s virtually the same thing that happened to me I have run force_upgrade.php but now I log in and have access to the dashboard and my profile only. everything else including setting user permissions is gone I need to get it all back I’m using ver 3.2.2
    Please help.

This helped me. Hope will fix the problem for you too.

Because I often have to transfer WP DB for the most of our new projects, I wrote this:
