Support » Fixing WordPress » ‘You are posting comments too quickly’

  • Hi,

Since a few weeks posters of my blog get frequently the following error if they’re trying to react:

“You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down”

The probleem is that it also occurs when they write their first reaction of, p.e., the day.

I don’t have made any changes in WordPress or the scripts.

Does somebody know the solution of this problem or maybe familiar with it? I can’t find a solution on the web. 🙁

  • I believe this thread has already been resolved elsewhere: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=7934&page

Second google result for wordpress You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down

    😛

I checked out the thread that nakedape referred to; however that’s not helping me out. I have emptied the cache and deleted all cookies, then left a comment and get the “you are posting too quickly” message. I can leave comments (when logged in), but it seems no-one who is not registered can leave a comment.

    🙁

(Should have added that I’m using WP 2.1.2)

Sussed it… (and I’m sorry – this was mentioned in the post that nakedape referred to – I was too hung up on the date and time of the failed comment to realise that I had edited another post’s date and time and accidentally set it to the future – once that was changed to a date in the past, things started working again.

    Doh!

Just turn off the ‘flood protection’ and everything is working fine again. 🙂
