The theme has broken JavaScript that seems to be breaking jQuery, which Zotpress relies on. I would contact the theme authors for a fix.

I am having the same issue as riverosiri, the references turned into cogwheels. it happened with two different themes after an update. I posted a separate question here
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/zotpress-entries-turn-into-cogwheels?replies=1
but to repeat briefly, I am using Zotpress 6.0.3 with WP 4.3.1 and both themes include a jquery import statement in the header. Is there something more generally wrong with the latest version of Zotpress? Could you hint at where to look for JS that breaks it?

In this case it’s the theme breaking Zotpress. If you’re not sure that’s the case, you can contact me and I can take a look: http://katieseaborn.com/contact

This is happening with mine too.

I use ThemeOne Mobius theme with Visual Composer, although on this particular post where I am trying this plugin, I am using a normal WP post type to test.

I get an infite spinning gear.

@jay_swan Feel free to contact me and I’ll try to debug on the front-end.

For @jay_swan it was using “zotpress” instead of “zotpressInTextBib” as the bibliography shortcode.

    Hi @kseaborn,
I am experiencing cogwheels again. This time, it is just the in-text references, the bibliography appears correctly.
I tried disabling all other plugins but it didn’t help. My wordpress and Zotpress are up to date.
