    Hello,
i have a kind of unusual issue which i just noticed. The yoast sitemap is not updating my sitemap for the category only. All post and page sitemaps are working fine. I have already tried all the recommendations and even siteground tech support looked into it without having a conclusion. These steps I did already:

    1. exclude sitemaps in WP Rocket settings to be cached
    2. turned off sitemaps and flushed ALL caches (Cloudflare, WP Rocket, Siteground server cache)
    3. disabled all other plugins to check if some conflict issues
    4. There should be total of 11 categories, but only 7 are on the sitemap. My four new ones are missing
    one page that is missing:https://www.fengshuibalanz.com/seo/
    5. Also it has self canonical and is SET to index on google

Adding or deleting a new post or page are reflected right away on the sitemap. However this cannot be said for the category part. Would love to hear yoru input of where the problem could be found.

    Thanks,
    Oh 🙂

Problem found: As there are no blog post associated the yoast by default are not showing them. Here is no my follow up question. As these categories purpose are landing pages, is there a setting to display categories even no blog post is associated with it?
    thanks

    Hello Fengshuibalanz,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your category sitemap.

If there is no blog post assigned to a particular category, the sitemap may be created but will be empty. I see that you now have 10 URLs in the category sitemap. If you have a category created with no post for it, it will not show in the sitemap. That is the design and there is no feature to make it display.

    Thanks

@maybellyne thanks for your kind answer. I found a solution for myself which works. I have created a “dummy post” set it as Noindex and nofollow associated with the category (landing pages) i like to display in the sitemap.

It works great. Just giving the conclusion, in case somebody else is searching for the same 🙂
