    Hello - My goal has been to resolve Open Graph meta tags lacking in theme by installing Yoast SEO plugin. To date, have not been able to force Facebook sharing (tried various plugins) to display correct info on timelines. How can I get an excerpt of the blog post to display?

    Example page: http://reasonandfolly.com/gallery-sample-3/

    Current setup for Yoast plugin in WP admin:

    Titles & Metas: Posts
    Title template: %%title%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%
    Meta description template: %%excerpt%%
    Meta Robots: noindex, follow (checked)
    Date in Snippet Preview: Show date in snippet preview? (Not checked)
    WordPress SEO Meta Box: Hide (Not checked)

    Facebook URL debugger results:

    Scrape Information
    Response Code: 502
    Fetched URL: http://reasonandfolly.com/gallery-sample-3/
    Canonical URL: http://reasonandfolly.com/gallery-sample-3/

    Critical Errors That Must Be Fixed
    Bad Response Code: URL returned a bad HTTP response code.

    Open Graph Warnings That Should Be Fixed
    Inferred Property: The 'og:url' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
    Inferred Property: The 'og:title' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

    Object Properties
    og:url: http://reasonandfolly.com/gallery-sample-3/
    og:type: article
    og:title: Gallery sample - Reason & Folly
    og:locale: en_us
    og:image: (appears, cannot paste here)
    og:description: Gallery sample
    og:site_name: Reason & Folly
    og:updated_time: 1355251730

    Any help is appreciated!
    Many thanks.
    R

    No, it's not an active plugin at the moment.

    Is it possible that existing meta tag in my header.php is overriding the SEO plugin's optimization, based on what I see in page source?

    When view sourcing http://reasonandfolly.com/gallery-sample-3/, I see:

    This bit:

    <meta name="description" content="Gallery sample" />

    is from your theme and shouldn't be there.

    You should remove:

    <meta name="description" content="<?php if ( is_single() ) {
    	single_post_title('', true);
    } else {
    	bloginfo('name'); echo " - "; bloginfo('description');
    }
    ?>" />

    Hi Joost - Tried that yesterday, didn't quite work. I'm trying to figure out if FB's debugger generating a 502 response code is indicative of a larger issue. If it's not accessing the blog properly that would mean it's not picking up the right tag info (Yoast or otherwise). My knowledge is limited here so it's merely a guess...
