Yoast SEO – META data changes (title, description) NOT saving

    Everything worked before. Now, when I try to set the title and description for a new page (or change it on an old page), everything resets.

    I’ve tried disabling all plugins. The latest version of WordPress. I also tried changing the theme.

    I followed this procedure (below), but nothing changed.

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations‘, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation‘, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

    Hello @emergencyloan

    Thanks for the detailed troubleshooting. Since you’ve already tested with all other plugins disabled, switched to a default theme, and reset Yoast’s indexables, it doesn’t look like a typical plugin or theme conflict. Could you let us know the following?

    • Which version of Yoast SEO are you using?
    • Are you seeing any error messages when you click Update on the page, or does it appear to save successfully before the fields reset?
    • Does this happen on every page, or only on specific pages?
    • Could you open your browser’s Developer Tools (F12), go to the Console and Network tabs, try saving the page again, and let us know if you see any JavaScript errors or failed requests? A screenshot or copy of any errors would be very helpful.

    Also, if you haven’t already, could you check whether the browser console reports any errors on the editor screen, as these can sometimes prevent the Yoast fields from being saved correctly?
