Yoast SEO disabling Hide Date option!!!

    Hi,

    The new upgrade of Yoast SEO couldn’t be more disappointing, they have disabled the “Hide/View Date” option which is totally devastating for my websites. Now the date is shown in all my pages that rank high in the SERPS and this will cause them to drop down in the rankings.

    Anyone with a solution for this problem?

    If not I will definitely change my SEO plugin.

    Hi @marcgisbertj,

    We understand that there may be some confusion about the show/hide date option in the snippet preview.

    Please note that the show/hide date setting does not have any impact on whether or not Google shows a date in search results.

    The Yoast SEO date in snippet preview setting only applied to the Yoast SEO metabox, so it may not have matched how Google displayed your pages.

    Hmmm…. I just came to complain about the same thing.

    The date was never in the meta box before the update (especially for pages).

    You are telling us that the fact you are hardwire showing the date in the meta box for pages now (not just posts) that that doesn’t mean Google will show it?

    Seems quite odd – WHY then show it??

    @yesyeah Since Google does show the date in most cases, and because it is a preview of how it will be shown in Google, the date is shown to make the preview more accurate.

    From my experience Google does not show the date on pages but does on posts. I’m having my issue on a page template. The preview template never showed it before it’s odd.

    Hi,

    Thanks for sharing your feedback. In the changelog for Yoast SEO v14.7:

    • Removes the setting to show the date in the Google Preview. The date will now always be shown in post-type previews.

      • This includes posts, pages, and products as well. We’ll take your feedback into consideration and forward it to the appropriate team members.
