I use a custom premium plan with language-subdirectory and url-translation active.
Your plugin is compatible with Yoast SEO plugin. Could you explain what this means?
Does this refer to the “?language_edit=1”-option where I can edit metadescription and title? Or is there anything else regarding Yoast & GTranslate I am missing?

Yoast’s XML-Sitemap-generation is not supported by GTranslate, right? So the translated URLs in the language-subdirectory will not be integrated into Yoast’s XML-Sitemap.

    Hi,

Yes, it is compatible with Yoast SEO, which obviously means that you can use GTranslate and Yoast SEO without experiencing problems.

To edit translations including meta description and page title you can use our in-context translation interface, more info can be found here: How to edit translations?

If you have a sitemap generated like domain.com/sitemap.xml you can visit the translated version like this domain.com/es/sitemap.xml for Spanish sitemap. It can be defined in your robots.txt like this:

    Sitemap: domain.com/sitemap.xml
    Sitemap: domain.com/es/sitemap.xml

This is not required and usually is being used by users with extra pathetic sensitivity to SEO related matters.

We do not translate the URLs inside sitemaps and there is no need for that, since Yoast SEO defines canonical meta tag for each page which is translated and it is being used for indexing.

Moreover, there is no need to take any special configuration, if you have language selector on your website your translated pages will be discovered.

    Thanks! 🙂
