Hi! Obviously I do not have the most knowledge on WP, themes and plugins….. I need an opinion, more so a fact. I wanted the web developers to install Yoast on my site. I REALLY need the help for my post for multi reasons and I just wanted it. This was the response I received: No need for Yoast on a Thesis site. I really wanted it but I also really respect my developers. Has anyone out there installed on a Thesis theme, is it bad, did it help or is this just not done. I thought Yoast is a plugin and Thesis is a theme. All thoughts greatly appreciated!!!

  • Most probably it’s because the theme has his own SEO, and activate another SEO system can cause conflicts.
IMO, SEO should be managed by a plugin, not through a theme. Maybe there is a safe way to disable it, because I don’t think that use both of them it’s a good idea.
    One or the other.

Yes, that’s exactly why. Thesis has loads of SEO features. In fact, that’s one of the few things I like about it. If you try to use Yoast together with Thesis, you might run into conflicts. For instance, both might attempt to rewrite your page titles – in different ways.

If you have your heart set on Yoast, ask your developers if they can skip Thesis’ SEO features and stick with the plugin instead. I love Yoast too. Can’t say the same about Thesis.

Hi Tizz & blogseolady, Thank you so much for the replies. Yes, I now understand why the two should not be used together. Turns out (as usual) I was not utilizing all the options when you do a new post, that’s why I was crashing and burning. I did an experiment post, trying to do things correctly, its showing up on the Google, only page four but I think I am on right tract. I have a class set with developer to go over it (again…) Just wanted to say “thanks so much for your input”.
