Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Yoast is unusable, invisible after latest update: many users

  • Resolved lauritaa

There are now multiple threads about the non-functionality of yoast on wordpress sites after the latest update. Fields are missing and broken so one can’t set seo, edit snippet etc. Can someone from yoast not reply to us? Should we give up and go back to all-in-one seo? What do I do on the next blog post with no seo at all? Please talk to us who don’t speak high-tech, don’t code, just want a plug-in.

@amboutwe I see no way to edit my original start of a new thread, which you suggested. I don’t use wpml, which you referred to in the other thread as source of conflict. If you look at the list of support topics you will see several others that are really about the same thing.

lauritaa: As you’re not using WPML, sometimes strange behavior may be caused by a plugin or theme conflict.

    Please perform the following:

    1. Check for plugin or theme conflicts.
    2. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.

If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our premium email support so we can help you further.

@amboutwe I see on other threads that you mention making sure the latest wordpress is installed and also the possibility of ‘rolling back’ to a previous yoast version. Can you please explain how to go backwards without losing seo content covering many years? To me it seems clear from reading so many forum threads that yoast’s latest update clashes with things so I’m interested in going back to the previous version.

If you use WordPress 4.8.x, there is an open bug report here. Please either update to WordPress 4.9.8 or roll back to Yoast SEO 9.1 while our developer investigate the bug report.

    To roll back to v9.1:

    1. Deactivate Yoast SEO 9.2.x
    2. Download the 9.1 version zip file here
    3. Unzip the contents of the file
    4. Using FTP, manually upload the 9.1 version overwriting the 9.2 file contents.
    5. Activate Yoast SEO 9.1.x

Additionally, there are plugins that offer a roll back feature here.

All SEO data is stored in the database so there is little chance that you would lose data. For the health and safety of your site, I recommend making a complete backup of your website beforehand.

Same problem here. Using latest Yoast & WP versions. I don’t see the focus keyphrase, related keyphrase and readability analyses. Traffic light is also not visible, not visible either on the ‘all pages’ section.

I’ve disabled all plugins, switched to another theme but that didn’t resolve the problem. I’m running php7.1.
