Fresh install of WP and when I activate Yoast it completely kills my site and takes me to the dreaded, “There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” Debug mode is on but it won’t show me anything but this screen.

Are there any known plugins that conflict with Yoast? It’s a pretty important plugin for the clients I work with so I don’t want to use a different plugin, but this obviously makes it unusable for the time being.

    Hello @erikawithakdc

I am sorry your website crashed after installing Yoast SEO. To get your website back live without losing data, kindly access the site via FTP and delete the Yoast SEO plugin folder temporarily. You may find this article helpful – How Can I Uninstall My Plugin?

    Does this resolve the issue?

We recently released a new version, Yoast SEO v14.1. Can you install the new version?

    Thanks.

    Sorry for the delay responding.

This is beyond a normal WP plugin issue. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and when activated this is what I see:

A quick glance at the support forum tells me a lot of people are experiencing issues. Any updates on fixing it?

Per your screenshot, one of the core interface YoastSEO_Vendor\Psr\Log\LoggerInterface from the Yoast SEO plugin is missing.

This issue typically occurs when the plugin installation or update couldn’t complete due to a server or connection hiccup. As a result of that, it causes missing files in the plugin, so you see the related error. Therefore, we recommend you, please reinstall the plugin to the latest version and make sure that you have uploaded it correctly.

Once you upload the Yoast SEO plugin correctly without having any missing files, you shall no longer experience the issue anymore.

Again, I’ve already done this multiple times to no avail.

We are using version control and locally everything seems to work perfectly but when the files are deployed to staging we’re getting this error continuously.

Any other suggestions as to why this might be happening?

    Hi,

We are not sure why the issue is happening but if it works on the local site but does not on the live site when you deploy, then there may be an issue with the development.

If you were to install the Yoast plugin on your live site using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) (and overwrite any files if prompted) does the issue resolve? You can download a copy of Yoast SEO here https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/releases/tag/14.1.

This guide explains more about how to use FTP: https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/#ftp

As I’m sure you’re aware, the purpose of versioning is so that I can maintain an exact replica of everything from local -> staging -> production. I doubt if local is working there is an issue with development.

I’m going to have our sysadmin take a look and see if he can find any conflicts with the plugin on our server.

@erikawithakdc Please let us know the outcome of the conflict check. Also, we released version 14.2 of the plugin today, and would recommend checking whether the issue also occurs with the new version.
