    This banner appears in the administration section.

    I understand that you want to add advertising, but this is too intrusive.

  • I couldn’t agree more. On which part of using yoast SEO have we agreed that you can show any kind of ads on admin dashboard

    This is a spam exactly… I condemn such advertise. It can not close before go to your campaign page. Yoast seo is not an indispensable plugin. WordPress should not allow publish any codes.

    Way too intrusive! Please remove it asap!
    I cannot even close it.

    @darkallman I couldn’t close it either – unless you come at that close-cross on the banner from the right-hand side VERY quickly, the actual banner link overtakes it.

    You can dismiss it by adding ?yst_dismiss_bf=1 to the end of your /wp-admin/ URL.

    (that is, until Yoast does another plugin update and adds their Christmas sale banner in there…)

    Thx… I managed to close it

    This is a HUGE no-no and considered spam in my book. Please never do this ever again.

    Add this to your functions.php:

    add_action('admin_head', 'remove_yoast_branding_backend');
    	function remove_yoast_branding_backend()
        {
            ?>
            <style type="text/css">
                div[class*="yoast_"] {
                    display: none !important;
                }
            </style>
            <?php
        }

    Does the trick 🙂

    Vote for changing the WP guidelines so that this is strictly not allowed in the future

    just stop using this mess of a plugin guys…

    I understand that they have to make money, but adding ads at the editor (mind creation area) is way out of line!!!

    Yoast needs to stop this behavior.

    I’m already looking for a plugin replacement.

    I thought my sites were infected with adware, as I got this on 10+ sites.

    It’s bad practice.

    There’s a discussion on GitHub that’s currently happening. Including a very brief response from the Yoast author:

    I’ve just uninstalled from ~30 sites, I still can’t believe they think it’s ok to spam ad like this.

    The 90s are calling, they want their colors back.

    This really has to stop. We really need enforcement of the plugin guidelines or new guidelines that prevent this behavior.
