    Hi there,

Our Yoast analysis is giving us errors such as “Your keyphrase or its synonyms do not appear in the first paragraph.” which is untrue. And “Out of 18 images on this page, only 5 have alt attributes that reflect the topic of your text.” which is also untrue. There aren’t that many images in this article.

    Example article:
    https://cybershack.com.au/av/bw-px7-s3-bt-anc-over-the-ear-headphones-next-gen-of-s7-excellence-first-look/

Focus keyphrase: B&W Px7 S3 (appears in the very first sentence). If I move .post-content in the DOM above <header> (all inside <article>) the issue goes away. Yoast doesn’t seem to be ok with an article having a <header> element, but this header is important.

For the image issue, Yoast seems to be reading images outside of <article> like from comments or other parts of the site.

    WordPress 6.8.1
    Yoast 25.0

How can we fix this? What semantic layout is Yoast expecting? I am applying best practices, according to my research.

    Thank you

    Hello @robmaric

Thanks for using Yoast SEO. Can you let us know how you are adding content? It seems you are using a page builder. Yoast SEO analyzes the default WordPress content areas like the title, URL, the main content box (WordPress editor). If you are adding your content through other plugin or theme content boxes (as most page builders do), Yoast SEO may not be able to detect it by default.

Hi Maybellyne, thanks for the reply.

Content is 100% being added in Gutenberg block editor like a normal blog post. The site uses Bricks builder for the single post template where that Post Content is output. I have great control over the structure of that output so I can change it to make Yoast happy. Problem is I don’t know what it wants. My blog post structure is semantically correct as far as I know. e.g. using <article> and <header> and various other things.

It sounds like you’re using custom templates but our support is limited to the basic use of the plugin. The Yoast SEO plugin code documents the available developer filters for customising many of our plugin features. We also have a developer portal with more information about filters and many examples of how to implement them.

Also, just because Yoast SEO content analysis doesn’t detect your content doesn’t mean search engines can’t.

Thanks for the reply. It seems Yoast can’t handle an article with a <header>, yet this is very common these days. Is there a developer who can clarify what I’d need to adjust specifically in my DOM structure to please Yoast? It’s requirements are too mysterious. We don’t want to look at other SEO plugins but this is leaving us no option as the client wants SEO analysis to work. Thank you

Your question is a bit outside the scope of our support. While I completely understand your situation, there is a difference between the level of support you are expecting and the level of support we provide. The support team is here to help you with questions about the setup and basic use of the plugin.

Is it possible to escalate this to someone who knows what Yoast doesn’t like about my article structure so I can make the changes Yoast wants? I don’t want to switch to another SEO plugin. I just want to be able to use the analysis tool. I’m giving Yoast a valid article format but it’s not working and I’m left without any clues as to what Yoast would need for this to change. I don’t want to switch to another plugin but sadly this is leaving me no choice. There’s nothing in your developer docs about this. I need a person on your support team to help here. You have the knowledge on your end. I think I am making a very reasonable request.
