Support » Installing WordPress » Yes Virgina, there is a 5 minute install…

  • … after several hours of trial and error. 😉 I was having the same problems that was in the thread “still can’t install”. (couldn’t find it again, probably was deleted because of username/password info in the posts) Something about not finding the install and giving you a link to try again that was the wrong path? Anyways… I used the latest build (from yesterday, the 10th) and still had the same problem. As a last ditch effort (starting from scratch AGAIN by clearing out the MySQL database and deleting & reloading all the files) I followed the instructions in the readme file and did the whole thing online. Instead of manually filling out the wp-config-sample.php file, renaming it to wp-config.php, uploading it, and pointed the browser to the install.php file I pointed my browser to the install-config.php file. Worked like a charm. Why isn’t that included in your 5-minute installation instructions online here: ?!

Because for 95% of people install-config.php actually works much worse than manually redoing wp-config-sample.php, unfortunately.
