• I am having an issue where my related posts for a CPT is displaying what appears to be a cached related post from another page.

    Here is my scenario:
I have a custom post type called “Players” with YARPP setup to work with it. I have a “Player” post called David and another called Sally. I also have one news story about David and another about Sally. If I view David’s Player page, I see the related news story about David perfectly. Now, if I go to Sally’s Player page, I see Sally news article and Davids news article!

To me it seems YARPP is caching the related posts for the entire CPT and is therefore displaying related posts based more on what you have seen as opposed to the current page. Is this the intended functionality, or am I having an issue with caching that I can overcome? If I can fix this issue so that it shows posts related only to the current page, what steps do I need to take?

I am using file caching, gzip, and cloudflare in case these could be part of the issue.

Thanks for your time and incredible plugin.

Anyone? Let me know if I need to be more clear or provide an example.

Hi byronj. YARPP should not be caching for the entire CPT. Is it possible that you have YARPP settings that are responsible for David’s news article showing up on Sally’s page?

I don’t believe so, though maybe there is something I am missing. On Sally’s player page, there is no content that should pull relevance to David’s news article.

Here is my site, have a look when you get a chance and see what is occurring.

    1. Go here and you will see that the related news article is correct for Cole’s player page

    2. Now, go here to Abbey’s page and you will now see Abbey’s news article and Cole’s article.

    3. Also, if we go back to Cole’s page, we will now see Cole and Abbey’s article.

    Any thoughts?

If you turn off “Bodies,” “Categories,” and “Tags” in the “Relatedness” panel, and only consider “Titles,” does it only show the Cole Musial video in “Related News” on the Cole Musial page?

When I do that, even with the threshold set to 1, nothing shows up. The H1 on the player page is set to pull the page title, so shouldn’t YARPP see this and retrieve a corresponding news article to the player page Title?

Yes, YARPP should use the H1 on the player page. There could definitely be a caching conflict. Hoping someone who’s come across this issue will chime in.
