I’ve released the beta versions of three new WordPress plugins based on Yahoo!’s term extraction web service:
* The extract terms plugin is a generic term extraction plugin for use in other plugins
* The terms2search plugin converts a post’s terms in search queries, for use to search related posts on your blog
* The terms2tags plugin converts a post’s terms in technorati tags, for use to search related posts off your blog
Denis, I am having issues with the way the extract terms plugin is parsing the informatoin on the Tabloid theme, it is using a 2 column theme, and somehow Yahoo is parsing the data to the plugin. I would really like to use it on http://blogyournews.com because it works nicely with http://whogivesacrap.net. Is there a way I can have yahoo get the data from a different theme, the database directly, or something like what was discussed here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/32071
By default, the plugin relies on the externals from the main wp loop, so you’ll probably want to look into the way you’re creating two columns if you get an bugs.
There are two documented hooks in the extract terms plugin that lets you fetch the terms for an arbitrary post, and for arbitrary content. It is built with plugin authors in mind, and will let you do what you want.
If you do not have the necessary coding skills to take advantage of them, feel free to email your specific requirements (denis at semiologic dot com) and I’ll send you a quote.
